Kansas Wheat Harvest 2021. With a lot of snow this winter and much rain, the wheat harvest was excellent. The fields were golden yellow and standing tall. With a rain delay, which always makes a farmer anxious and happy at the same time, the beautiful wheat was primed to be cut and feed the world. Wheat, it is eaten every day in some form. It is flour for cooking and baking. It is wheat germ. It is wheat berries. {{more}}
It is a decoration in vases or woven into crosses.
A wheat field supports many professions. It goes to the mills and then goes to the stores, all taken there by a truck driver. A baker makes bread or cakes, donuts, pancakes, and waffles. It supports a restaurant, and the burger joints. It makes gravy and soup.
It is a verse of a song, amber waves of grain, which was heard on July 4th, most likely the traditional time for wheat harvest.

Sharon Black has been writing for many years including newspapers, short stories, and as a publisher. She was born in Nebraska and has lived in Kansas most of her life. In her hometown of Smith Center, Kansas, Willa Cather’s hometown is to the north and Bob Dole’s hometown is to the south. Sharon is a press release writer for the National Parks Arts Foundation and writes for b U n e k e magazine. The biggest project she has accomplished is the co-writer of the TV movie Home on the Range. The movie is about the song, which is the state song of Kansas and the lawsuit surrounding it in the 1930s and finding the rightful author of the song. Sharon is distantly related to the Mississippi writer Eudora Welty.
