Tis the season

Woo-hoo! 🎉 It’s National Maple Syrup Day! 🍁🥞 I can’t even begin to express how excited I am about this sweet celebration! Maple syrup is like liquid gold, adding a deliciously rich flavor to pancakes, waffles, and even desserts! 😋🥞🍨 Whether you’re drizzling it over a stack of fluffy pancakes or using it to glaze some succulent bacon, maple syrup is just heavenly! 🤤🍁 So let’s pour on that sticky goodness and indulge in the amazingness of maple syrup! #NationalMapleSyrupDay #SweetDelights #MapleSyrupMagic 🥞🍁🔥

How to Observe National Maple Syrup Day

Celebrate the day by eating maple syrup! Make sure it is pure maple syrup and not a mix. Put it on pancakes, waffles, or French toast, or pour it over vanilla ice cream. There are many recipes you could make that use it as well. Although it is probably too early in the season to go to a sugaring event, check to see if there are any places that do them in your community. If you have a few of your own maple trees, you could consider making your own maple syrup! Just remember you need about 35 gallons of sap to make a gallon of syrup.

And you can check out one of local wineries here in NH The Summit Winery.

More on the day

National Maple Syrup Day, celebrated annually on December 17th, pays homage to the rich, amber elixir that is a staple on breakfast tables and a sweet addition to various culinary delights. This day honors the tradition of tapping maple trees and crafting this delectable syrup, a practice deeply rooted in North American history.

Maple syrup is a natural sweetener derived from the sap of sugar maple trees. The process of turning sap into syrup involves tapping the trees, collecting the sap, and then boiling it down to concentrate the sugars. The result is a flavorful and versatile syrup that adds a distinctive sweetness to a wide range of dishes.

On National Maple Syrup Day, maple enthusiasts, culinary artists, and food lovers alike celebrate the unique qualities of this natural sweetener. From drizzling it over pancakes and waffles to using it as a glaze for meats or a sweetener in desserts, the versatility of maple syrup makes it a beloved ingredient in both sweet and savory dishes.

Participating in this day often involves enjoying a maple-infused breakfast or creating dishes that showcase the syrup’s rich flavor. Many people also visit local maple farms, where they can witness the traditional process of tapping trees and learn about the craftsmanship behind producing this sweet delicacy.

National Maple Syrup Day also highlights the importance of supporting local maple producers. Many regions, particularly in the northeastern United States and Canada, take pride in their maple syrup production, and this day serves as an opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication of those who contribute to this time-honored tradition.

Whether enjoyed in its pure form or as an ingredient in creative culinary endeavors, National Maple Syrup Day is a celebration of the sweet, natural goodness that comes from the heart of the sugar maple tree. It’s a day to savor the flavors of tradition and appreciate the craftsmanship that transforms tree sap into a beloved syrup enjoyed by many around the world.
