Over 40 and Going to Modern ApizzaPizza
Entrance to Modern Apizza by Lori
Publishers Note: My friend, Lori, is a lifetime Connecticut resident. Lori has worked with me since 2010, but she has never been to Little Italy in New Haven?
What?!?!
Thank God for great friends, who take people to awesome pizza places. (I recently took some family members to my childhood favorite, Pepe’s. ) To her credit, she did review Mystic Pizza a while back. 🙂
Here’s Lori!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Modern Pizza in New Haven, Connecticut, and it was an outstanding experience. I have lived in Connecticut my entire life, and Modern has been on my go-to list for quite some time. A dear friend of mine came with me to pick up my son from the airport and suggested we finally give it a try (it was his first time, as well).
The restaurant was easy to find using GPS, and we found parking right outside on the street, though there is some additional parking on the side of the building, as well.
Our visit was around 12:30pm on a Tuesday, and while they were busy there was shockingly no wait; we were brought right over to a table. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly customer service, which set a positive tone for the visit. The restaurant has a cool vibe, making it a great spot to enjoy a meal. There is plenty of seating, but I can imagine it gets quite busy during peak hours, so be prepared for a wait if you go during typical meal times.

We were handed menus and we ordered drinks- my son got a beer and enjoyed it. We originally were going to order individual slices, but we didn’t see the option on the menu so we ordered a medium and split it. It’s a good thing because we both ate more than we anticipated.
My son and I decided on a plain cheese pizza, and we were sold with the first bite. The sauce is incredibly flavorful. The bread-to-sauce-to-cheese ratio was perfect (I am picky and like equal amounts), and there was minimal grease. For those who prefer the pie cut, you got it here.
If you’re a pizza lover, Modern Pizza should be on your must-visit list! It’s no surprise to me why Modern Pizza is rated the #1 pizza place in America.
Publisher-I will still be Pepe’s aficionado. And if you do the research on Modern you will find Pepe’s in the background. 😛
Okay, Lori. I commend you for your travel and for the other Lori for making sure you got to Little Italy in New Haven. Thank you for all you do. You have “many miles to travel before you sleep.”
