I had Patrick Cortis on the podcast because I’ve had the privilege of watching him grow from a young kid with no spiritual direction into a talented musician who creates powerful Christian music. Patrick was once a part of the after-school program The Roc (Redemption Outreach Center), and I saw firsthand the transformation he underwent during his time there. Those were challenging times—full of ups and downs—but we were dedicated to nurturing the next generation, even when we didn’t always get everything perfect. Patrick’s journey is a testament to the impact that mentorship and faith can have on someone’s life.

Patrick has come a long way from those early days, now contributing to Christian music in profound ways, either writing songs entirely on his own or collaborating with others.
