What Is Record Riot?

Bringing Vinyl Culture to a Town Near You

What began as a local vinyl show revival in Waterbury, Connecticut has grown into a multi-state traveling event known as Record Riot—a music collector’s dream with stops in cities across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Whether you’re looking to build your collection, connect with fellow music lovers, or sell some of your own, Record Riot is the place to be.

John, a longtime vinyl vendor, stepped in to take over Record Riot when the original proprietors were no longer able to run the show, ensuring the event—and the vibrant vinyl community it supports—continued on. “I didn’t want to lose one of my best venues,” he recalls. So he took it over and eventually teamed up with fellow music enthusiast Steve Gritzan.

From Local Roots to Regional Reach

From its early days in Waterbury, Record Riot has grown into a full-fledged tour of cities spanning Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, and Maryland. For a full and up-to-date schedule, check out recordriots.com.

What to Expect

Each Record Riot event offers something special, whether you’re a seasoned digger or just starting to explore the world of vinyl. Shoppers can look forward to:

  • Dozens of regional and out-of-state vendors

  • Tens of thousands of LPs

  • Thousands of 45s and CDs

  • Music-related memorabilia and collectibles

  • A welcoming community of fellow music lovers

Vendors also benefit from the opportunity to travel the circuit, connect with dedicated collectors, and make solid sales. While many vendors follow the tour across multiple states, each location also features unique sellers with local flavor, giving each event its own personality.

Most shows feature 30–50 tables depending on venue size, offering a vast and exciting selection of music from nearly every genre.

So collecting music is your thing, Record Riot events are absolutely worth the trip. Most vendors accept both cash and card, but it’s wise to bring cash as a backup. Also, don’t forget to bring bags or boxes to carry your vinyl treasures home!
