The other day, I was riding with a man from the west. The conversation came up about earthquakes. We both talked about the “San Francisco” quake of 1989.

He is used to quakes and me…well, not so much. I am from New England and while I have been through my share of quakes while traveling, let’s just say I am not a big fan.

New England faces a large storm tonight. Reports are on the news from 12″-40″. Wow! But, I am a whole lot more comfortable with something “coming down” than something “falling out”. lol

I have been near tornadoes (very close), and dealt with floods. I am a lot more okay with snow than I am with rain or fast moving wind. {{more}}

Recently, the “Camp Fire” moved through the region of Paradise. One of my friends, still is displaced as the result of those fires. Her family is living in two “homes”.

Two months after the Camp Fire devastated Butte County homesteads, a small group of the county’s most desperate displaced residents are about to lose what had become their only remaining refuge.

Red Cross and Butte County officials said Thursday they will close the area’s final evacuation center at the end of this month, potentially displacing more than 600 residents living at the Silver Dollar Fair Ground in Chico.

Too many, like to practice “tough love”, or remind others of stories from Aesop’s fables, even quoting the Bible.

“Go to the ant, O sluggard, observe her ways and be wise, which, having no chief, officer or ruler, prepares her food in the summer and gathers her provision in the harvest.” Proverbs 6:6-8 NASB

But, that is NOT how we are to live. I know people have taken advantage of others and the false “GoFundMe’s” exist from time to time.

This is an opportunity to serve others with integrity, love and mercy.

Positive News For You supports those that continue to do things differently, to help others and make a difference.

Many years ago, I came to the realization that while that “homeless” person may use my money for drugs or alcohol, they also may use it responsibly for getting a hot meal.

Our storm in New England, is the opportunity to help others. It may be to check on an elderly neighbor, or bringing a meal to someone, shoveling out or clearing someone’s car.

Storms do come, but often they tend to bring people together.
