Participate In Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

It is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. Most of us may know someone affected by the disease, or someone who died because of it.

I am a dad who watched my daughter go through the pain of breast cancer. I remember the call that summer. From that point on, her life and the lives of her family and friends, changed. My daughter is one of the fortunate ones. (Ironically, there was nothing in our families that would have suggested this problem.) Some of my friends and so many others have not been. We are coming up on 2 years of her being cancer free, but even last week, we had a conversation about this.

Others are going through this today.

Last year, we had a pink shirt made for our company. With so many involved we want to help people raise the awareness.This shirt design was the result of my thinking. A shirt to remind folks who may be going through a time of breast cancer, that being positive is important to the process.

I know my daughter had her down times. I know others who have battled breast cancer.

There is a young man in the community I live in, who has given this month to raising money for breast cancer awareness.

His name is Raffi Podniesinski and he is 10 years. He will be participating in October Saves, which raises money for pediatric and breast cancer through pledges for every poke check and glove save the goalie makes.

Flat donations are also accepted. (Currently he is at $1355.)
