I am writing this on Giving Tuesday!

I have worked with lots of nonprofits over the years. I have supported them, worked alongside them and promoted them. Over 25 years of working in the media business in many capacities, I have seen a lot of great organizations, ministries, and religious organizations.

Regardless of the organization, there are two things that seem to be constant. {{more}}

• They all need more people to know about what they do.
• They all need money to do the great things that they do. (Have you seen your Facebook feed today?)

At Positive News For You, we want to help you with those two key things. Why would we do this? Because so many of you do amazing things and if we are to change the communities and the cultures we live in, we need and want to honor you. To help in our own way. It is our way to celebrate Giving Tuesday by opening the door to help nonprofits move ahead.

With few exceptions, ALL nonprofits need to be known by people. They are doing good work. Think about your local thrift stores, human societies, churches, homeless shelters and more, just to spark your thinking.

Many years ago, I taught a class to help nonprofits develop their skills in promoting their organization. This included tapping into advertising, accessing free community press, the writing, and distribution of press releases and considerably more.

I loved teaching this class.

Are you a nonprofit? Do you have a story to tell? What is it? (People want to know who you are.)

Here is what I have to offer you. If you will send me well-written stories (It must be well written because I do not have an editor, nor the time to correct poorly written work. I do have people that can write quality pieces for you, for a price.) Please work to make it more than a “press release”. People want to hear your heart, see the people, and be connected emotionally. For instance, our breast cancer program came out of the fact that my 37-year-old daughter had breast cancer 3 years ago. I know the story. I am connected to it.

What is a good story?

The organization that provides help to a recently widowed young mom. How about the humane society that has children reading to animals? A group that provides gift wrapping during the holidays. The organization that brings presents into nursing homes, feeds the homeless or shovels sidewalks for the elderly.

This is a wonderful opportunity. I hope you see it as such. (Just this morning I received a note from someone who had a story about helping others and the story we published encouraged others to give to what they were doing.)

All articles must be positive and uplifting. (You can start on a “down note, for instance, this organization was started by someone who had cancer.)

There will be no charge.

This applies to nonprofits, ministries and religious organizations.

Your article, story or press release will appear online and will have a mention in our daily news page.

What organization does not need an additional income stream?

Positive News For You wants to give you that opportunity.

Whether we want to talk about it or not, without funds, the wheels don’t turn on the nonprofit vehicle. Organizations need money for buildings, equipment, staff and to activate and fund the projects they undertake. Many organizations are looking for additional funding and income streams.

We have developed a way for organizations to receive an additional income source.

Many organizations have business people within their groups. Many of them advertise, appear in directories and do work that is often beneficial and benevolent in the community.

Churches, ministries and religious organizations often are seeking additional income to develop programs of outreach and helping others.

Many church fellowships have businesspeople within their congregation. They often advertise, appear in directories and do work that is often beneficial and benevolent in the community.

When they participate with us, ANY money they spend with our organization does the following.

• Promotes its business through a site that publishes the good things occurring in our community and nation.
• 25% of every dollar spent with us is paid to you as a donation. (Example-they spend $50 per month with us and we donate $12.50 of that to you as long as they advertise with us.)
• 25% of every dollar spent with us is paid as a donation to PN4UINC, our nonprofit arm that promotes positivity education, positive events and donates “comfort bears” to first responders.
• Additionally, your organization receives a free “yellow pages” directory listing (A $20 per month value.). You will also be notified as events occur in your community and region.
