A Positive Event At KMS In Keene With A Great Car Show
Today was a gorgeous day and there was an annual car show. The show was at the Keene Middle School, and not only was it a car show, but a craft show and food.
3 Generations and their cars-Porsche and 2 Mustangs
I was solo today. Usually, I have my grandson, Jacob, with me or my wife. Not at this show. It was me. I will not lie. It was awkward. I am used to sharing with Jacob as we walk around the shows. He has been my “little buddy” for over 17 years.
And because I go to many area shows and Jacob is with me, there were a number of people who asked about him. “Where is your son?” “Where is your boy?” Where is your grandson?” “Where is Jacob?”
Am I wrong? Don’t you see me? 😊
Forever 29!
People love to see young people at car shows.
Jacob loves cars. Pretty much all cars! He will sit here looking at cars and say things like, “Grandpa, you need this,” which probably means he “needs” it.
The first 3 cars I saw were a newer Mustang GT, man 80’s Mustang, and a 1964 Porsche 356B. As I looked at them, and spoke to the folks, it turned out that these 3 cars were owned by a grandfather, his son, and his grandson.
If there is one thing I love about car shows, it is seeing generations working and hanging out together.
Just going through the show, they were all ages. And lots of great cars. (There were 8 Studebakers! What?!?!)
I am a Mustang guy and I found a few. New, old, and everything in between.
WANT MORE CAR SHOW STORIES AND PICS?
One Mustang owner, John, has a newer Mustang convertible. He and I had a great conversation about cars and the cars around. Parked next to him. A 1965 Mustang convertible. It was beautiful! (And I hear that guy bought another from New York.
1956 Ford Victoria
I continued my walk, and there were a lot of super cars. One was a friend with a gorgeous 1956 Ford Victoria. (He also has a 2014 Mustang and a Pontiac Trans Am, to go along with his truck and van!) He is in his 80s and loves cars.
Another friend was there with his Hellcat. (One of my grandson’s favorite cars.) He has let Jacob sit in his car in the past.
Across the way, I encountered Scott, who had a ‘65 Mustang convertible.
He shared about the recent rebuild on the motor. He had done some recent restoration. He told me the story of the car. His dad had a Model T and belonged to a car club. When he passed away, his mom got rid of the Model T, bought a ‘65 Mustang, and remained in the club.
Scott was in the military and the Mustang had been promised to his nephew. While Scott was overseas, (Thank you for your service!) his mom passed. There were two cars. A Buick and the Mustang! Sometime later, his nephew reached out, and as things happened, the nephew wanted to know if he could take the Buick, leaving Scott with the Mustang!
The car was shipped overseas, and Scott and his wife got to drive it on a frigid day with the top down on the autobahn!
One of my favorite cars was more about the story than the car itself. It was a 1984 Corvette. The owner was a 17-year-old Shelby. She had worked on this car, and it was her daily driver. Awesome!
Shelby’s 1984 Corvette History
While I was there a young girl came over and was looking at it. Shelby asked her if she wanted to get in. She did! And she could start it! She was mind-blown!
It is young people like here who will preservice the car shows of the future.
The pictures speak for themselves.
This is a great show with craft booths, food vendors and cars. Beautiful weather made for a wonderful day.
I am grateful for the folks who put on this show, as well as the vendors, and all the car owners that were there.
Your labor, your money, and your desire to see great cars is what it is all about.
Jacob and I will be at Frogg Brewing this Wednesday!
We look forward to seeing you!
Want to see more cars from the show?
