Car Shows Have the Nicest People
I meet the nicest people at car shows. Every time.
Yesterday, Jacob and I went over to the car cruise night at Frogg Brewing in Swanzey. It was hot and humid, and a lot of owners did not show up because of the “weather” and the thoughts of possible rain.
But, the ones who were there we connected with. One of them was a man with a Viper. Jacob and I were up on the deck talking, avoiding the sun, and having a drink. I started talking to him, and I talked about how a few years ago, he had invited Jacob to sit in his car. Last night, he said, “The keys are in it.” Jacob got some great pictures for his wall. 😊
While we were sitting, a friend came over. We ended up sitting there for an hour or so, talking about everything and nothing.
It soon became time for Jacob and I were ready to come home for dinner.

- Be Polite and Friendly: A positive attitude goes a long way in creating enjoyable interactions.
Oldie but goodie!
Car shows are a fantastic opportunity to meet people who share a passion for automobiles and to learn more about different types of vehicles and their histories.
Not all shows are the same. Cruise nights like the one I attended last night don’t have vendors, and the cars are set up on their own, yet they are one of my favorites. When I go to the larger shows like the one I attend annually in Lake George, there will be thousands of cars, tens of thousands of visitors, vendors, raffles, and food!
I am publishing this on Collector Car Appreciation Day. (My wife’s birthday, July 12th.) Collector Car Appreciation Day raises awareness about the role that the collection and restoration of automobiles has in American society. It acknowledges the importance of automobiles in American culture as an inspiration for music, film, photography, fashion, literature, and other artistic pursuits. It celebrates classic cars of the past and future, and according to the first and subsequent Congressional resolutions for the day, recognizes that “collection and restoration of historic and classic cars is an important part of preserving the technological achievements and cultural heritage of the United States.”
I would encourage you to take the time to get to a show and have fun!
