Relative excerpts from the podcast:
Announcer: Coffee on the Couch will be starting in five, four, three, two, one, and we’re live.
Chris (Host) Welcome back, everyone. I’m your host, Chris, and you’re tuned in to Coffee on the Couch, where the coffee is always dark and the conversations are always enlightening.
Today, we’re diving into the world of coffee with someone who knows it inside and out—Chris Keegan, the mastermind behind Coffee Hound Coffee Co. Roastery. From his small-town roots to crafting blends that unite communities, Chris has brewed something special.
So grab your favorite mug, settle in, and let’s get to know the man behind the beans.
Welcome, Chris.
Chris Keegan: Hi, thanks, Chris. It’s nice to see you.
Chris Keegan: It’s good to have a very similar name so that we don’t have to stumble over it. Like, is your name Scott, Jeff, or Steve?
Chris Keegan: So it’s good to be there.
Chris (Host): Yeah, really. I appreciate it.
Chris Keegan: Nice, nice.
Chris (Host): I’m glad we could get this going. I know we had quite a few scheduling issues from the time we first got connected to now.
Chris (Host): Yeah, which, you know, we’ve managed those pretty effectively.
Chris Keegan: So yeah, it’s been pretty easy to—you had one thing, I had one thing, we both had a thing… and then now it’s down to, uh, I had a thing and then—
Chris Keegan: And then we just couldn’t put it off anymore.
Chris Keegan: We needed to get together and have a Coffee on the Couch. That way, we can talk about this, get this promoted, get you promoted, and get people to see you as well.
And try to broaden the podcast aspect for you guys.

Chris (Host): So we met on Alignable, which is one of those sites that actually packs quite a punch when it comes to networking.
Chris Keegan: Yeah, I mean, it’s a good company. I remember when it first came out—LinkedIn was already a thing, and we were seeing some traction with that, but not really a ton. We also didn’t really work it either.
And then Alignable came out, and I don’t know what happened. I think somebody sent me a request—it was an old friend—so I jumped on it. And then all of a sudden, it was like notification city.
It was constant—this person wants to send you information, this person, and then another person. It got to be too much, so I left Alignable for about two years.
Chris (Host): Oh wow.
Chris Keegan: Yeah, I had to turn off my notifications. I even tried to change my email address. It was just overwhelming.

But then I decided to embrace it a little more and thought, okay, let’s see what this can do, what it can be. I don’t use it as much as I do regular social media, but it does bring me to opportunities like this—with you. It’s also connected me with some people in different ways.
Not only did I connect with you, but I’ve also connected with a couple of authors. We have a book series by a Canadian author where Coffee Hound is actually the starting point for her characters throughout the story.
Chris (Host): That’s really cool.
Chris Keegan: Yeah, we worked with her on that. If you go to our website—coffeehoundcoffeeco.com—there’s a connection to that author there too.
Coffee Hound has actually been written into six or seven different books now, not just her series, but by other authors as well. It’s been pretty cool.
Chris (Host): And that all came from Alignable?
Chris Keegan: Yep.

Chris LaFreniere
From an early age, Chris LaFreniere became interested in the written word, as well as finding his voice. He was quite regularly told by teachers, both in a positive way as well as a negative way, that his style of writing was akin to the way he thought. In one encounter with a teacher, she advised him that he should go into journalism because she believed he would do well.
Chris has been writing for close to a decade now, starting off as simply a way to get his views and opinions out via a blog, which over time has morphed into a more polished style as well as a new arena. One of which some individuals have referred to as “citizen journalism.” Writing is a passion for Chris and a place where he truly believes he’s found his voice. He also presently works as a copywriter.
