Reason for having Joel on the podcast

The Eggshell Effect: Joel Holc

The Eggshell Effect: Joel Holc

I had Joel Holc on the podcast through a connection with our mutual friend, Anthony McKeown, the owner of Fight Coffee, an incredible organization that donates 100% of its profits to fighting human trafficking. It was through Anthony’s powerful work and shared mission that I first came across Joel, and I knew I had to invite him on the show. Joel brings immense energy and passion to everything he does, and his story, combined with his deep personal commitment to tackling real-world issues, made for a compelling conversation. He was an absolute powerhouse to talk to, both insightful and engaging.

Joel’s presence on the podcast was a true highlight. His willingness to dive deep into important topics, coupled with his sincerity and dedication, created an impactful dialogue that resonated deeply with me and the audience. Having him as a guest wasn’t just about sharing his story—it was about amplifying the message of using personal and professional platforms to create change, much like Anthony does with Fight Coffee. Joel’s passion for life and making a difference is contagious, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have had him on the show.

Joel Holc:
Hey, Chris. Thank you very much for having me here. I’m so happy. I’m looking forward to the next few minutes that we’ll be together. Love to be here.

Chris:
Yeah, yeah, for sure. Now, we were talking about how we got connected, which is through a mutual friend of ours, Anthony McCowan. Now, I understand you guys have an interesting project you’re working on. Would you like to talk about that a little bit?

Joel Holc:
For sure, absolutely. Anthony is a great, great guy. We met a while back, and when I actually met with him on…

Joel Holc:
Through this collaboration with businesses, we’re creating the ability to raise money without anyone needing to write a check. We call it a “$0 donation.” This program allows us to essentially create funding from thin air by partnering with for-profit businesses and helping them support nonprofit organizations.

If you’ve had the privilege to meet Anthony, you know what he stands for: stopping human trafficking. While he might not be able to completely stop it, I’m confident he can make a significant difference in that space. Anyone who connects with his network, his coffee program, or our fundraising efforts can help make an impact in people’s lives.

Human trafficking is a horrific reality, and we’re living in one of the worst times in history for modern slavery. Most human trafficking involves sex trafficking, and it’s an issue that’s incredibly close to Anthony’s heart. When he shared his mission with me, I immediately volunteered our company to help him raise money. This is our commitment—to do our part in helping end human trafficking.

While we may not be able to be on the ground, we can certainly provide the funds for those who are directly fighting this battle, working alongside multiple nonprofit organizations to make a difference.

Joel Holc:
So, yeah, my book is really where my passion lies. I believe this is why God brought me into this world. I’m a multi-business owner and involved in a lot of things, but truly, my calling and my deepest passion is the work I do through my book. I help people heal themselves. I’m an energy awareness coach, and this work is what drives me.

I’m incredibly proud and thankful for the team that helped me put this book together. It wasn’t a solo effort; I had a large team supporting me throughout this journey. It’s been an amazing experience, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

So, yes, let’s dive into it.

Chris:
For the audience, the name of your book is The Eggshell Effect, correct?

Joel Holc:
Correct. The Eggshell Effect: My Journey from Fear.

Chris LaFreniere

Chris LaFreniere

From an early age, Chris LaFreniere became interested in the written word, as well as finding his voice. He was quite regularly told by teachers, both in a positive way as well as a negative way, that his style of writing was akin to the way he thought. In one encounter with a teacher, she advised him that he should go into journalism because she believed he would do well.

Chris has been writing for close to a decade now, starting off as simply a way to get his views and opinions out via a blog, which over time has morphed into a more polished style as well as a new arena. One of which some individuals have referred to as “citizen journalism.” Writing is a passion for Chris and a place where he truly believes he’s found his voice. He also presently works as a copywriter.
