Coffee on the Couch
He recently interviewed John Bushnell of the Bushnell Project.
Reason for interviewing Mr. John Bushnell:
The decision to interview John Bushnell for “Coffee on the Couch” stems from a deep and meaningful connection forged through a mutual involvement in a non-profit organization. As the program director, Mr. Bushnell emerged as a beacon of strength and integrity during a crucial period in my life. His influence became pivotal as I grappled with the concept of being a devoted disciple of Christ. Unbeknownst to him, I regarded Mr. Bushnell as a positive male role model within the context of Christian living, learning invaluable lessons about godly fatherhood and husbandry. Our interactions, marked by a playful banter and his penchant for endearing nicknames like “Fren-for-a-day,” added a layer of humor to our connection. During this podcast episode, we delved into profound topics such as biblical masculinity, his role in world classrooms, his family, and the legacy built through living out the principles of a godly husband and father. Our conversation explored the significance of raising up godly men and women, ensuring men understand their godly expectations and that women discern qualities of integrity and vision in potential partners. This makes Mr. Bushnell a noteworthy and insightful guest on “Coffee on the Couch.
A little about John, Or as I refer to him, Mr. Bushnell:
John Bushnell, our distinguished guest on “Coffee on the Couch,” is a pastor and former director whose insights span faith, education, and family. Shaped by pivotal moments in pastoral counseling, he brings empathy and a holistic approach to guiding others, particularly the youth. With a foundation from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, John’s commitment to spiritual leadership is evident. His experiences at Teen Mania Ministries and World Classrooms fuel his passion for youth development, aligning seamlessly with “The Bushnell Project,” his podcast exploring selected Bible passages. John’s incorporation of humor and resilience enriches his journey, while his past role at World Classrooms underscores his dedication to experiential student learning. As the head of his household, he defines biblical masculinity, and his podcast’s evolution reflects growth and overcoming challenges. In this episode, John shares his wisdom on faith, family, and education, offering our audience a compelling and concise narrative.
Excerpts from the podcast:
John Bushnell
– And, of course, a lot of it has to do with assessing the person, but that was probably the most impactful one.
-The biblical route is identifying that all of our issues really come from the fallen world, from sin, and the answer to it
And in our modern, Western, mostly American world, we’re very entitled, we’re very soft, and we really think we deserve a good, easy life. So, the philosophy why do bad things happen to good people is what a lot of counseling is based on.
However, biblically speaking, there’s no such thing as a good person.“
————-
Host: There is a very, very genuinely honest preacher out there.
Host: I’ve seen a lot of his videos, and I can agree with the stuff he says, but man, can you imagine for the Pew Potatoes sitting in service, like? What do you mean?
So a resort in Mexico or to Paris, right?
Or Montreal, Canada, right?
John Bushnell: They haven’t really gone to a part of the world that is overpopulated, a part of the world where there is real poverty.
We have, and Paul Washer; that’s what he was; he was a missionary living with his family, raising his kids in some of the worst places in the world.
And then he comes back to the United States.
So he’s been battling real-life issues, the issues that were taking away people’s lives.
And he gets back to the United States, and the church is literally asleep.”

Chris LaFreniere
From an early age, Chris LaFreniere became interested in the written word, as well as finding his voice. He was quite regularly told by teachers, both in a positive way as well as a negative way, that his style of writing was akin to the way he thought. In one encounter with a teacher, she advised him that he should go into journalism because she believed he would do well.
Chris has been writing for close to a decade now, starting off as simply a way to get his views and opinions out via a blog, which over time has morphed into a more polished style as well as a new arena. One of which some individuals have referred to as “citizen journalism.” Writing is a passion for Chris and a place where he truly believes he’s found his voice. He also presently works as a copywriter.
