Excerpts from the podcast:
Host: Joining us once again is a distinguished guest, a true patriot, and the mastermind behind the All-American Flag Store, Mike Bergquist. His first appearance left us eager for more. And now, in this much-anticipated part two, we’re delving into not only the essence of his business but the profound chapters of his life.
Host: Like we mentioned right before we got into the recording, we’ll get to a point, I believe, where this technology may go away, and it could go away tomorrow. And all we’ll be left with is our skill and our know-how.And if we have gotten lost in the minutia, if we’ve gotten rusty, we’re going to have problems.Mike: Yeah, one of the big things they’re talking about is power outages.Host: Yeah.Mike: These things become useless without power.Host: So it’s a big topic that I’m actually kind of passionate about, and not for a good reason. And well, not for a bad reason either, but, I’m passionate about it because it’s a real thing that could really happen.Host: You know, Tomorrow, the bad actors of the world could send a H-E-M-P or an E-M-P, and all they would really need is about two well-placed E-M-P’s or H-E-M-P’s, high altitude electromagnetic pulses, and it could knock out the entire grid of our entire country.
Host: And one thing I’ve noticed living in Maine is that people do for others.People do selflessly for others. My first winter up here, I was at my in-laws, and I was blown away by the abilityof people to help their neighbors,a plow truck.Host: Bear in mind that a plow truck got stuck plowing my in-laws. Some random guy saw them trying to get out of there, kicking their gears or whatever, came up with a tow cable, pulled the plow truck out, said their congratulations or whatever, and left. You know, just the average person just saw them had a tow cable. They came in, did that, and left.Host: The guy was appreciative, and they both went on their way. Now, you imagine that’s a small scale.Where are we going to be when the power’s out, the groceries are gone, and we’re left to fend for ourselves, so to speak?
Mike: As a Christian, I want to straighten these people out, you know, I mean, and I’ve had a woman calling me from Chicago looking for Palestinian flags and ended up having to send a friend in to get them when I said I had them, you know, but I wanted to tell her, listen, why are you supporting those people?

Mike: They’re bad, you know, but it’s not my place to be in the middle of that when I’m trying to run a business.

Chris LaFreniere

Chris LaFreniere

From an early age, Chris LaFreniere became interested in the written word, as well as finding his voice. He was quite regularly told by teachers, both in a positive way as well as a negative way, that his style of writing was akin to the way he thought. In one encounter with a teacher, she advised him that he should go into journalism because she believed he would do well.

Chris has been writing for close to a decade now, starting off as simply a way to get his views and opinions out via a blog, which over time has morphed into a more polished style as well as a new arena. One of which some individuals have referred to as “citizen journalism.” Writing is a passion for Chris and a place where he truly believes he’s found his voice. He also presently works as a copywriter.
