I grew up believing we are better together than we were apart. Did I always live that? Most likely not. But do I believe it? Yes!

The last few days, I have given thought to what Positive News For You can do, to bring people together, rather than see them pushed apart.

One of the biggest reasons, for the establishment of our nonprofit, PN4UINC, was to get behind events we saw to be positive in their respective communities. {{more}}}

My friend Luca Paris, a local restaurateur (Luca’s Mediterannean Cafe), and promoter of Keene foods and businesses, started a Facebook group, that is titled, What Is The Best Thing You Ate Today? A foodie gathering of amateur and professional chefs and cooks. Every day, people will post pics and “reviews” of restaurant foods, home dishes, gather tips, and more. (And let me tell, the foods are great!)

Use your influence to change theworld!'Over the last couple of weeks, one of our other writers, Erik Willis, who is a member has been suggesting challenges (The most recent a “stuffed challenge”.) and bringing people together over the topic of food. Sitting people to the table. A community table. (He most recently delivered stuffed pork chops to my home, filled with apples and Gruyere.)

I am thankful for these two and all the others!

In my life, I have learned a few important things over the last 64 years. One of those is that I know that division is one of the hallmarks of democracy. I know that disagreement is occasionally unavoidable. But ought we to let this disagreement divide us? I HOPE NOT!

Positive News For You & PN4UINC want to get behind the positive news happening in your community.

For the most part, we can agree about food. We all need it and eat it!

My hope is that we can set up more kitchen tables to gather at. To “cross the aisle” over common denominators. (In this case, food, but it might be art or music.) Let’s not let others dictate how we will meet and interact with others. Or tell us how bad it is, but let us decide on our own terms, what we can agree about!

I hope there are more like my friends, Erik and Luca, as well as so many others in the Facebook group, or the other restaurants and businesses in my community, who make the difference, laying down disagreements, for the sake of commonality and agreement.

Let’s get behind the businesses and the people that are making things better.

Perhaps when we devote ourselves to our commonality, allowing our diversity to lead to unity, we will see our communities bettered.

Every community has its share of problems, but together we can take those things on in ways that will change the world.

Here at Positive News For You and PN4UINC, we are dedicated to seeing the world become better, brighter and positive. I hope you will join us.
