My friend, Phil, recently put together his book about being a dad, along with starting a campaign to help other dads.

Dad Quote of the Day (#DQOTD) announces the “It Takes Heart to be a Dad” campaign.

“Dad Quote of the Day began as a fun way of sharing with family and friends some of the funny, amazing, and wonderful conversations I was having with my kids as they were growing up,” said Phil Lower, Author and Founder.

“My family experienced an extended period of time when we were on the brink of living on the streets, or in a family shelter, due to a severe drop in my income. I had been recovering from a grave illness, but was only able to work certain jobs due to physical limitations. Mom had also been sick and couldn’t work. And, we both had to take care of the kids.”

“We ran into many people that wanted to help us, but due to their own policy goals, or organizational restrictions, couldn’t. Slowly we recovered. It was incredibly hard and stressful. My occasional social media postings of Dad Quotes of the Day brought light and laughter to our family.” {{more}}

Dad Quote of the Day (www.dqotd.com) is about Celebrating Great Dads with Fun and Purpose.

Mission: To reduce homelessness in Dad-led families.

Situation: Homelessness can happen for a number of reasons from loss of a job, illness, and other conditions.

When a Dad is active in their family, and they face losing their living space, the number of shelters that will take care of a family with an active, involved Dad is tiny. Some cities and counties have only 1 or 2.

Those shelters that can support a Dad and his family are typically full with a very long waiting list. It’s often too little, too late. Government programs are insufficient and constrained. Charitable organizations help. But, they have their own restrictions as decided by their donors or their mission.

“My family and I experienced these rules, regulations, and restrictions first-hand for over a year when my income was severely reduced. We survived by the Grace of God and the help of too many people to count. This work is dedicated to helping solve the problem.”

Solution: The solution is to help prevent the homelessness to begin with.

DQOTD helps by partnering with individuals, governments, and charitable organizations to meet targeted and short-term needs so that families with an active Dad can weather the storms of life.

Proceeds from the sale of all Dad Quote of the Day (#DQOTD) merchandise will go to meet these needs. Sign up now on our website and Join the Movement!
