Today is National Mutt Day. That day when we recognize all the Heinz 57 dogs that are out there. The dogs that often have been rescued from uncertainity, by people who just love them.
Earlier this year, my grandson Jacob, who loves every dog and cat, began putting together a program to help support pets. All pets.
This day goes beyond pedigree and to the heart of love.
Let’s look at some of the great stories that we found for today.
- The first story is about the new Meta bracelet that can take hand movements and turn them into computer actions. This story, shared by News Atlas, has the potential to replace a mouse and keyboard. And it may just help more people.
- Imagine being a scared young boy, sitting in Vietnam, wondering how long it would be before death came in? And that is the story of retired Marine Cpl. Scott Harrison. A tiny music box, given to him by his sister, gave him hope. CBS shared the story of his purchase of an old carousel, carving new animals, and bringing it to life. The carousel of happiness.
- In a muddy river, CBC News reported that two paddlers rescued a small foal the Kananaskis River.
- Fox News reported the story of the tech giant, Google, being ordered by the court to pay a policeman, $12,500, for lack of privacy. Streetview, uses cars to travel about communities filming every detail. Well, this was too much for the courts.
- A story from WGOX tells us about the landscaper whose livelihood was threatened when someone stole his trailer full of tools. A story reported that Kyle, who is disabled, had his landscaping trailer stolen. Over the years, Kyle donated his time, to a food charity bank. After hearing the story, a local businessman, stepped up, providing Kyle with a new locking trailer! And the community participated in a GoFundMe.
- A Walmart heiress has decided to do something about the health of America. She has started a new medical school, based on preventative care and compassion. This story in Forbes tells of a school with an eye towards holistic healing. (a patient’s mental, social, emotional and physical well-being)
So, let’s celebrate those darling little mutts. And let’s be reminded that all efforts to make the world a better place count!
