Everybody but my wife and I slept in. Maybe it was the nearly 6 miles of everyone walking the night before. All I know was there was a lot of snoring! Finally, by 8 AM, everyone was “up”, and showers and breakfast were getting done.

While others were eating, my wife was already packing and getting things ready to go. After breakfast, everyone was getting their stuff together. Soon, everything was packed up and the loading of the vehicles began. Making sure everything was packed, everything swept and everything cleaned. {{more}}

What the heck??? What's a quarter?Let me say, we had a wonderful time at this campground. We were so grateful. As we left, dropping off the key, we headed back into village.

We couldn’t find a parking place! We watched some cars, but then I told my daughter, I was not going to stress out. We were just getting ready to call it a day. I just did not have the energy to look around.

The youngest at 12We parked in a restaurant parking lot, saying our goodbyes.

My granddaughter said to me, “I was really looking forward to spending some time with you.” (I had really hoped to get Mariah over to the All Girls Garage, but maybe another time.)

We all hugged and as we drove away, I thought on those words. I began to think about what caused the disappointment. I began to dialog about what I would do to make it better.

About an hour later, the decision to take a break came up, and lo and behold there was my daughter’s car.

My 16-year-old car loverAll the kids were jumping up and down on the sidewalk. Glad to see us! I pulled in and I think I cried a little. I walked over to the kids and the hugs were there. When I was hugging Mariah, I told her how the last comment affected me. She looks at me and says, “I love cars. And I love hanging out with you AND the cars. You never rush me, and you let me talk about them.”

We sat down for a while and while it had been sad not to do more cars, we had an amazing little time together.

My wife and arrived home sometime later. I emptied the van while my wife put things away. I was going to lie down and the closet shelf had collapsed. No nap today. Moving my van I saw the power steering fluid. A few blips on the radar for the return home.

And our vacation is over.

We had amazing times in the last few days. Family, fun, and food. It doesn’t get much better than that. We have already begun planning out return trip to the Adirondacks, to the car show next year and to the good times.

18 years oldI met some of the kindest people through it all.

Thank you for being part of the last few days. If this moves you, I hope you will let us know. If you have a great trip that promotes positivity and goodness, I am sure others would love to hear about it.

Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!!!
