What a gorgeous day! New England at its best! A great day for going to a food truck!

Today I picked up my grandson, Jacob. He was ready and waiting when I arrived. He has been here a lot this summer, but usually we have other family around, and it is hard to get one on one. (I strive to do that with each of my grandchildren. Don’t get me wrong, I love all the family around and it happens regularly, but one on one is important for each of them.) One of my plans with him coming down was to head over to the food truck, Street Savory.

I met Austin many months ago at a business meeting and was excited to see the news of him partying up with a local brewery, Branch & Blade. (He first started prepping there, but most recently took on the kitchen for them as well.) He has been instrumental in some of the changes, (hours and locations) that have occurred in our town with regard to food trucks.{{more}}

My decision to visit and review area food trucks has proven to be a good choice, and as we move towards the end of summer vacation, I looked forward to visiting one with my grandson, Jacob. (I recently visited Hot Hogs BBQ and Salt & Lime. )

We had a couple of errands to do, and getting them done, we headed over to the skate park where he was set up today. (One of the things I like about Street Savory is they move around a bit. So, earlier this morning I asked he where he was going to be.)

Their site has this story….

Representing street food from a wide array of different cultural influences, Street & Savory is bringing big flavors and local products together to elevate the NH food scene.

We proudly source our products through local producers and our friends at the Monadnock Food Coop, bringing you ethically sound proteins, veggies and other inputs. We ensure that you can feel good about what you’re eating, and we can feel great knowing that we are putting the best food available to us, out the window to you. All of our to go containers, cups, cutlery, and bags are biodegradable and compostable, and we actively compost our food wastes and trimmings.

We are a truly mobile unit, without fixed hours or location. We update constantly on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, to let you know where to find us. We’re frequently on the streets of Keene, partnering with local businesses, breweries and distilleries, or traveling to events. If you’ve got ideas for us or would like us to work together with your business, please reach out! We’re all about developing strong relationships in the community and are actively looking for ways to expand that reach.

See you at the truck!!

We pulled in and went over to the truck. We were greeted by Austin and took a moment to order. I ordered the “Legendary Smash Burger’ and Jacob, “Brisket Bomb”. Grabbing a couple of drinks out of the cooler, we waited, mouths watering. I had a good conversation with Austin and in just a few minutes our food was up and ready. We decided to take it with us, and the smell of sweet barbecue, filled the van. Jacob kept opening them during the 5-minute trip and just kept sniffing the air!

We got home, grabbed a few photos, and opened the boxes. I started with the duck fat fries. Salted well, crisp and super tasty. I could just eat those! Jacob bit into his brisket sandwich. He told me it was great. We traded a few bites.

My burger was juicy and think. The board in front of the truck reads, “Pineland Farms chuck, American cheese, grilled onions and jalapenos, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and secret sauce, on Martin’s sesame bun, along with the duck fat fries”. (And that is 2 patties in that!) Every bite had a taste of each. The goodness oozed out and the juiciness was there.

Jacob ate the brisket, savoring each bite. The sign board reads, “Montreal Smoked Brisket, sauerkraut, pickled onions, honey Dijon mustard and yellow mustard on a rustic roll”. The bite I had, had it all. Juicy, smoky, tasty. And even though Jacob is not a big sauerkraut fan, he loved it and said he would do it again!

While this lunch was a little more than a couple of others (You see the pricing on the board.), the quality, the taste and the amount made it all worthwhile. They offer a veggie alternative, and a kid’s menu. Also, they have some cool sides; Pork Belly Burnt Ends, Soft pretzels, Deep fried pepperoni, and Street corn in a cup.

Check out Street Savory on Facebook and find out where they are going to be! You can always find them at Branch & Blade Brewing at 17 Bradco in Keene New Hampshire. Street Savory takes cards. (Always good to know.)

A few more places to check out in Keene and then on the road to see a few. The trip has been fun so far. My hope is someone, somewhere, across this great country will be interested in doing this somewhere else and keeping the ball rolling here. If you are a budding food writer (Or maybe you have another passion.) I hope you will let us know.
