Hey everyone-
This is Lee, the owner of Positive News For You and the President of PN4UINC, our “positivity” nonprofit.
For the last few weeks, I have been thinking about this. I have been thinking about the challenges offered up on the TikTok platform. Because I have grandchildren, I have heard of these. I have heard of the pains, the destruction of property, the attacks and more.
Some are even “funny” but many of the challenges hurt people. A lot!
I even found a “list” on a website. Is it “legitimate”?
- September: Vandalize school bathrooms
- October: Smack a staff member
- November: Kiss your friend’s girlfriend at school
- December: Deck the halls and show your balls
- January: Jab a breast
- February: Mess up school signs
- March: Make a mess in the courtyard or cafeteria
- April: “Grab some eggz” (another stealing challenge)
- May: Ditch day
- June: Flip off in the front office
- July: Spray a neighbor’s fence
Does it matter? Some believe it to me. And some of the recent attacks and vandalism in schools last month would indicate the validity of the “challenges”.
What about the “milk crate” challenge? Just search to see how many injuries resulted from that challenge that TikTok had to ban.
“Lee, this is NOT very positive!”
No, it isn’t.
But, what if we began a positivity challenge to counter it? Instead of “random acts of kindness” we practice and film purposeful acts of kindness? What if purposed to record “positive acts”? And what if each week, we did a contest to reward the “positive” challenge?
Okay, that is what we are going to do.
This is a challenge to do something good! Something positive!
