I have found that most people want to help but often don’t know how to help. They may simply not understand what they might do, or where the onramp is.
I know I love helping people. Over the years, I have said my “epitaph” will read, “He helped others”.
Helping others changes, families, communities and regions. That was my thought when I began Positive News For You. Help others.
I believe people want to see positive news and want to know how to help. So, in this business, I want to give people onramps.
I wanted to let you know also, that presently, this is a “one man” show. As my daddy used to say, “I am the chief cook and bottlewasher”. If I don’t do it, it does not get done. 😀 I am also fortunate that my wife, Tina, believes in me and lets me do this.
This business is a “for profit” business. (Even though many say it is my ministry.) While I love doing good things, I am limited in this season by “what’s in my wallet”. (Why I sell merchandise, look for advertisers and seek sponsors. I think in the very near future we will put a non-profit together to help educate, promote goodness and more.)
I shared that because if I get inundated with stories, etc., I may be running behind.
Step By Step
If I haven’t scared you away, here are some of the ways you can help us build and grow. I will work to stay with baby steps.
- Join our Facebook page and our Facebook group. Follow us on Instagram.
- It may sound “foolish” but like our posts. It works the Facebook algorithm and makes our posts more visible. (Especially, if done within the first 15 minutes.)
- Sign up for our Daily Newsletter with all the headlines and specials!
- Share our posts, stories, and website. Sharing is caring.
- Encourage your friends, family, and coworkers to join us!
- Participate-commenting also changes visibility, but it also encourages others, that they are not the only one out there promoting a POSITIVE message.
- Send us stories about good things in your community or links that you find. (Pictures and videos are great.)
Now to some bigger steps!
- Become a writer or what I call a Roving Reporter. (Or send us cool pics and videos.) Currently, this is on a volunteer basis, but I plan to change that as we build momentum.
- Become involved in events we do or get behind when you can. Currently, we are behind the Recycled Percussion tour to raise $50,000 for children who might not receive gifts for Christmas.
- Come up with cool ways we can participate in your community or support the good things happening around you.
Finally, we get to the BIG STEPS!
- Purchasing Merchandise. All monies go into making “positive news” more visible to others. (Also, you get to get cool pics to submit!)
- Become a SPONSOR. Show your support by becoming a sponsor. You get newsletters, discounts and more!
- Are you a business that advertises? We need advertisers who believe in our mission. Talk to me about what works for you! (Whether $1 or $1,000 we want to help people.)
Does That Make Sense?
I hope that is enough of an onramp, that if you are interested we can discuss next steps. My heart is that I leave this world better than when I entered. They say if you ask 50 people to help you will get 10-12 interested and 2 that will help. I think that number is predicated on whether you are asking someone to dig a ditch or need brain surgery! I hope we find a bigger group than that!
