Foodie Erik Willis gets out and about, after moving to Spofford Lake with new adventures in Southwest NH.

(If you like these columns from Erik, let him know. Local and small businesses are being sought for sponsorship.)

This week was full of adventure as I moved out of Keene into Spofford NH. I definitely ate out a few times and I also explored my new backyard which is Pisgah State Park. Not only that but I also went to Lake Spofford a number of times as well which was very enjoyable. Of course I also celebrated July 4th in style too.

So I went to Whetstone Craft Beers in Brattleboro and the food there is amazing and they also brew all of their own beers as well. It is located at 36 Bridge St. The hours are 12-9 except Fri and Sat they are open 12-10. I highly recommend you check it out!

On the 4th I ventured to the Vermont Country Deli for some light non traditional fare for the patriotic holiday. I had curried veggie samosas, chickpea salad, Tuscan grilled veggies and a to die for piece of chocolate macaroon cake. The Deli is located at 436 Western Ave in Brattleboro VT. They are open 7 days a week from 8 am to 6 pm. People come from near and far to partake of both food and desserts as well as to visit their amazing gift shop.

All in all it was a very good week despite the stress of moving for the first time since I’ve been in New Hampshire. May your week be filled with great food grand adventure and friends and family in the bonds of love.

I definitely will be out and about!

Thanks, Erik, for your return. We are greatly appreciative of your work and your love for the food world. We look forward to more of your visits to area fooderies. And let Erik know if you have a fave you would like to see him at.

Erik wanted to share this poem he wrote with you.

Fully Me

Truly its a process to become fully me

But let me be clear the world can no longer bully me

Im learning how to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee

The world may cross me with a left and a right

Not that I want or am looking for any type of fight

But I have a lightning left and a roundhouse light

That will shock the darkness and light up the night

Darkness is always lurking all around

Rarely if ever making a sound

Sniffing out its next victim like a well trained blood hound

Then Boom! Out of nowhere light pounds it into the ground

Then the gloves come off as its no holds barred

And the light continues to strike fast and strike hard

Are you listening to the words of this new era bard?

Knowing your true power is a great place to be

Restrain it and use it for good to set people free

Keep it locked and loaded for a boom combo 1-2-3

To light up the darkness to and roar Fully Me!
