The day celebrates the introduction of the Ford Mustang at the New York World’s Fair on April 17, 1964. It was released in showrooms across the country on the same day, and 22,000 vehicles were sold on its first day.
I have owned my share of Mustangs, at one point having all 3 models. I am inclined to think it was to remind people to not think of the taxes they just paid. Just a thought!
