For the past 6 years, the Outrun Ovarian Glow Cancer Run in memory of Peggy Cole has been held in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Peggy Cole passed away from ovarian cancer at 69 years old.
This walk/ run is held at night with the participants wearing glow sticks. The walk is 2 miles and the run is 5 miles directly from the old National Guard building out into the country. Barricades are set up to stop traffic.{{more}}
Sydnee Cole, a granddaughter, hosts the walk and has help from Whitney ‘Cole’ Archer, Jake, and Haylee Cole. Participants registered or pre-registered and received a sack of glow sticks and other goodies. At dark, Sydnee directed people to the starting point. Instructions were to turn around at the water stations for the 2-mile walk and 5-mile run.
When all had returned some prizes were awarded. The sky was clear directly above with twinkling stars but a rainstorm was brewing in the northwest with lots of lightning.
