The Penguin Plunge is a fundraiser for the Special Olympics of New Hampshire, helping them to continue to train athletes, register and travel to competitions, and provide safe equipment and uniforms. They take pride in the fact that no athlete or family pays to participate in the program.
Last year I attended their program in Keene and watched a number of folks brave the cold to enter the waters of a “pool” supplied by the Keene Fire Department.
Because of the pandemic, they have gone from plunging in the icy waters of the Atlantic, to the “pool” here in Keene.
One of the penguins, Downey Page, interviewed with our own Lori Lebel about why he is willing to freeze in the icy waters.
He has been doing this for a number of years and loves what he does and the people he does this for.
Check out the interview about the Penguin Plunge and if you would like to support Downey in this endeavor, you can go to this link.
Let’s cheer them on!
